Organisation Profile:
• SCOPA Auckland is the network of ex
students, former teachers and staff, families and friends of Samoa
College in Auckland. Currently it has members in other parts of New
Zealand.
• At the celebration of Samoa College’s
50th Anniversary in December 2003, SAMCO NZ which included SCOPA
Auckland presented $40,000 SAT towards the construction of the
multipurpose centre by SCOPA Samoa at Vaivase.
• In accepting the invitation from SCOPA Samoa to participate,
SCOPA Auckland, SCOPA Manawatu and Samoa College representatives
from around New Zealand joined together as a national network as
SAMCO NZ. The sole purpose of SAMCO NZ was insupport of the Golden
Jubilee celebrations.
SAMCO NZ Reunion 2003 (Auckland):
•
Friday 10th October - ‘ava o le feiloaiga’ and ‘lotu’ to
welcome SCOPA Samoa executive and SAMCO NZ members from around New
Zealand.
• Saturday 11th October - ‘sauniga lotu’ and Samoa College school
history presentation (50 years of service); followed by cocktail
co-hosted by SCOPA Samoa and SAMCO NZ for everyone; reunion dinner
and ‘siva’.
• Monday 13th October - farewell
‘toanai’ and ‘aiava’ for the SCOPA Samoa contingent
Samoa College 50TH Anniversary:
• Friday 5th December - SAMCO NZ group assembled in Apia for happy
hour at Aggies Hotel.
• Monday 8th
December - SAMCO NZ group travelled to Savaii; sight seeing,
overnight at Manase.
• Tuesday 9th December - cross island
sightseeing, again overnight at Manase.
• Wednesday 10th December - SAMCO NZ group returned to Apia;
attended History book launch at Kitano Tusitala to start
celebration.
• Thursday 11th December - parade in town then Jubilee
celebration
at Vaivase.
• Friday 12th December - SCOPA ‘po siva’
fundraising with Jubilee ball in the evening to conclude
celebrations.
• Sunday 14th December - farewell
‘toanai’ hosted by SCOPA Samoa for overseas groups.
