Over a year has passed since Sydney's last encounter with the popular male group Jamoan Jam. Saturday night - 27th April, the Sydney Sider Polynesians were again fortunate to party to the sounds of Jamoan Jam, with their new repertoire of contemporary Polynesian R&B at one of Sydney's prominent Polynesian night spots - Club PolyNZ.
Enticing the audience with the opening track - 'Eligi', the vibe of Jamoan Jam's presence was strongly felt throughout the club. Many people travelled for the one off performance from Canberra, Melbourne, Brisbane, and also from the surrounding Sydney districts. This one off Sydney performance was the second only tour by the group to Australia.
The night kept going with more songs from Jamoan Jam's latest album 'The Future', featuring the new sound and new appearance of Jamoan Jam with two new members. Missing in the current line up is Lapi
Mariner. The many faces of the Polynesian cultures in the crowd shared
a common
passion and appreciation of Jamoan Jam's musical talents.
Reminiscing tracks from Jamoan Jam's first album Samoana Soul, the group not only kept the crowd on their feet, but showed Sydney based Polynesians that no matter where you live, Polynesian music universally gives us an understanding of where our hearts long to be - the Pacific Islands.
Concluding the night with a classic ballad medley included Knowing You, 'Samoa Matalasi'
and the ever famous Samoan Wedding Song. Again another great night at the PolyNZ
club and a
most enjoyable performance by Jamoan Jam.
Jamoan Jam is a quality live act and will be difficult to follow up next time round, but will be remembered by many people in years to follow. Thoroughly enjoyed by all who were moved by Jamoan Jams talent. The group was also able to convince with there new additional members, that their Soul is still untainted.
