One
of New Zealand's largest church complexes recently opened in
Auckland in November by Destiny Churches International.
Destiny Church is headed by well-known New Zealand Christian
television preacher, Brian Tamaki (Ngati Ngawaero/Tainui),
and had open its head office and church complex at 18
Allright Place, Mt Wellington.
The
40000 sq ft complex feature a bi-lingual Maori pre-school
unit, primary school, social services centre, youth
development programme and auditorium with state of the art
equipment. It also house a large administration division,
digital television suite and call centre for the Destiny
Television programme.
Senior
Minister Tamaki says the church is experiencing exponential
growth, and they're pleased with their new base in Mt
Wellington.
"We know there are many needs in this community and we're excited to
have the opportunity to support the people of Mt Wellington and the
Auckland region with our resources," says Tamaki.
"That's what church is all about. This is more than a group of people
meeting on a Sunday having a nice time together and going home. This
complex will hum from Monday to Sunday with all sorts of programmes for
young and old. We are restoring the church to its proper place in
society - leading from the front instead of just always picking up the
casualties from behind."
Tamaki's administration team includes teachers, television producers,
former
nurses and policemen, financial advisors, and professional musicians.
The
church opening marked sixteen years of pastoral service for
Brian Tamaki and his wife Hannah.
"This
is a particularly exciting time for Hannah and I and the
team," says Tamaki, " we are now seeing the God given dream
unfold."
