While much of Samoa
was spared from the cyclone's devastation; the ‘pulu’ landmarks of
beach road Apia waterfront have taken the worst. ‘Pulu’ in front
of Matafele Ioane Viliamu building completly uprooted.

Across from the Fire
Station a ‘pulu’ is not only uprooted but carried on to the road
by the strong winds. Fitness walks and the usual ‘evaga’ along the
seawalls of Apia will never be the same way without the ‘pulu’ trees.
