PICTORIAL: TROPICAL CYCLONE HETA 2004

While much of Samoa was spared from the cyclone's devastation; the ‘pulu’ landmarks of beach road Apia waterfront have taken the worst. ‘Pulu’ in front of Matafele Ioane Viliamu building completly uprooted.

Across from the Fire Station a ‘pulu’ is not only uprooted but carried on to the road by the strong winds. Fitness walks and the usual ‘evaga’ along the seawalls of Apia will never be the same way without the ‘pulu’ trees.
